I own three of Michelle Rohr’s courses: Passive Income Planner Girl, Canva Template Hub, and Digital Planner Template Kit. I paid for all of these courses myself although I am now an affiliate for Michelle’s courses! In this blog post I’ll review all three of the courses and explain which of the three might be for you. I’ll also include a YouTube Video with a sneak peek inside all three courses.
Let’s start with what features are in each course:
Passive Income Planner Girl
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who wants to sell printables on Etsy AND specifically digital planners. I’m a HUGE fan of printed planners and have used the Panda Planner Pro for years. I had never used a digital planner before this course so I didn’t really know much about them. I now love the concept!
Digital planners are a good product on Etsy because you don’t have to ship the customer anything. You make the digital file and then hundreds of customers can download it. That’s why I personally love selling printables on Etsy.
What are digital planners?
The short on digital planners is that you can use an app like GoodNotes or NoteShelf with your tablet and write digitally. You don’t have to print anything out and can erase any mistakes you make instantly. This course teaches you how to make a digital planner to sell on Etsy or use yourself.
There are many different types of planners and they can be used for different purposes beyond the daily, weekly, and yearly planning purposes. I have seen students in the course create planners to track the cycles of the moon and I myself created a planner for bachelorette parties. You can design the planner to stand out among the others on Etsy fairly easily with the instruction in the course.
What makes this course different?
I must mention that Michelle and her business partner, Aimee Johanan, make a HUGE effort to make this course inclusive. They want to encourage students to tap into their passions and specifically their “zone of genius” and have so many workbooks and checklists to do that.
I really feel that the course is more personalized to the student than other courses I’ve seen and because of this approach, they attract some really genuine and heartfelt students to the course. You will see the quality of student in the Facebook group where everyone is so helpful and supportive. You get the feeling that you belong in the group.
The course kicks off by sharing 6 different personas of women who might do digital planning like “Una the Artisan Tea Maker” and “Franca the Rebellious Baker.” They really go all-in with the personas and even give music playlists that this character is listening to or reading lists. You can pick the student persona that attracts you most or get into all of them. I had never seen a presentation of a course like this before and I have to say I LOVE IT!
What’s in the course?
The course has different modules that help you do the following:
- Understand your zone of genius
- Pick out clipart that showcases your personality
- Make your digital planner
- Make the Pinterest marketing images to drive customers to your shop
- Instructions to open your Etsy shop
All of this instruction is given with a combination of video and text tutorial. The videos focuses on using Apple Keynote for Mac to make the planner and Affinity Publisher for PC (the latter coming soon).
What’s not in the course?
The course does not focus on the nitty gritty of keyword research, SEO, and understanding supply and demand. That is not what Aimee and Michelle are about and that is not their message. Their message is about helping their students make a digital planner that they feel represents themselves and their personality. They are not going to tell you that this specific type of digital planner is trending on Etsy right now and has tons of searches and therefore you should make that one. That’s not their thing.
This course also does not have the templates to make it faster to make the digital planner, the listing images, and the pinterest images. That is actually why I own three of Michelle’s courses because I took the first course, LOVED IT, then realized that I had no time with my newborn and I would pay to have the “done-for-you” templates. That’s why I bought her other two courses which do have those features.

Digital Planner Template Kit
Who is it for?
I would recommend this course as an addition to the Passive Income Planner Girl. Michelle’s tutorials in Passive Income Planner Girl are crystal clear and you don’t necessarily need this kit. I had a 6 month old while taking this course and I just simply didn’t have the time to follow the tutorials from Passive Income Planner Girl and make the planner from scratch. That’s why I bought this course too.
I loved that Michelle offered the “done-for-you” templates in this course so that I could just edit my own colors and add my own clipart to make her planner my own.
Why get this course too?
It took me about 2 hours max to get my planners listed on Etsy after using her templates whereas it might have taken me days if I did it on my own. Michelle and Aimee both have the “eye” for graphic design too and what they have provided here in the Digital Planner Template Kit is much prettier than what I would have come up with on my own. Therefore, I recommend getting this course in addition to Passive Income Planner Girl.
Or, if you already know how to sell on Etsy but you just want to add planners, you could consider getting this Digital Planner Kit course too without Passive Income Planner girl. Of course, the zone of genius lessons and the planner girl personas are reasons to get the Passive Income Planner Girl course too even if you already know how to sell on Etsy and market on Pinterest.
What’s in the course?
They have included digital planner templates for:
- Apple Keynote for Mac
- iCloud Keynote for PC
- Affinity Publisher for Mac or PC
- InDesign for Mac or PC
They really have all of the main software for making planners covered here in this course.
They have included Etsy listing image and Pinterest marketing templates for:
- Canva (free online tool)
- Apple Keynote for Mac
What’s not in the course?
This course does not teach you how to sell on Etsy or guide you through the vision of creating your Etsy product like the Passive Income Planner girl course.

Canva Template Hub
Who is it for and what’s in the course?
This course has Canva digital planner template pages and Canva Etsy listing images and Pinterest marketing images. Canva templates are “done-for-you” and you just swap out their font, colors, and graphics for your own. They have tons of different graphics and choices. I actually used their template to make my Ultimate Printables Kit Workbook you see here.
Why get this course too?
I actually bought this course before the Digital Planner Kit came out so I don’t know if I would have bought all three if they were all offered to me now. This course is AMAZING and Canva is a graphic design tool that so many of us use to make printables.
I guess I would have chosen to definitely buy Passive Income Planner Girl + either the Digital Planner Template Kit OR Canva Template Hub. I think it depends if you want to use Canva or another program like Apple Keynote or InDesign or something else to make your planner pages and if you want to use Canva then buy this Canva Template Hub one.
What’s not in the course?
This course also does not teach you how to sell on Etsy or guide you through the vision of creating your Etsy product like the Passive Income Planner girl course.

Overall – A+ course that I really recommend
Michelle Rohr and Aimee Johanan make beautiful templates and you can’t go wrong with buying any of their courses. I recommend buying Passive Income Planner Girl no matter what plus 1 of the two others (Digital Planner Template Kit or Canva Template Hub) depending on which program you want to use. The graphic design is worth it alone!
^ the only course of the 3 that teaches you how to start the Etsy shop but doesn’t have the templates in the courses below
^ includes the done-for-you templates for the digital planner for mac and PC but doesn’t teach you how to start the Etsy shop
^ includes the done-for you templates for the online tool Canva which is free to use but doesn’t teach you how to start the Etsy shop
You can’t go wrong with either of the three but I recommend the Passive Income Planner girl plus one of the other two depending on which program you want to use.
What are alternatives to this course if I don’t want to sell planners?
If you are looking to sell other things than digital planners on Etsy check out my E-printables course. We don’t cover how to make digital planners but we do cover how to make gift tags, wall art, checklists, coloring pages, social media graphics, Pinterest pins, and more. I have a free e-book I’m giving away here as well to get you started.
