STARBUCKS DRINK HACKS

That daily grande soy latte with extra whip can get pricey, which is why you need to know these 11 hacks before your next Starbucks coffee stop.

1.  Bring Your Own Cup

The Dugood blog says when you bring your own cup to Starbucks, you get 10-cents off your order. Bonus, bringing your own cup is environmentally friendly.

2.  Ask for an Ice Water

Starbucks filters its water, so Hip2Save suggests that you ask for an ice water, which is just as good as buying a bottled water, but it’s free.

3.  Join the Rewards Program

As the blog, Twenty-Two Words reminds us, not only does the rewards program offer discounts and deals, but you also get a free drink on your birthday!

4.  Shop at a Standalone Starbucks

According to Spoon University, you want to shop at a standalone Starbucks as much as possible because it’s cheaper. The Starbucks inside your local supermarket or at the airport charges more than a standalone shop.

5.  Coffee Press

Rather Be Shopping says the coffee press is great for groups. The 64-ounce press is perfect for groups. It’s less than $10, so you’re definitely getting more for your money.

6.  50-Cent Refills or Even Free

Urban Taste Bud says if you’re looking for another round of caffeine, take advantage of the 50-cent refill. Just bring your cup back to the counter and you can get hot coffee, iced coffee, hot tea or iced tea for just 50 cents. If you’re a member of the rewards program, the refill is free.

7.  The Iced Latte Hack

This one really depends on how gutsy you are. According to The Daily Meal can get a cheap iced latte when you order a triple shot of espresso over ice in a Venti cup. If you’re really bold, head over to the condiment counter and start pouring the milk. If you’re a little shyer, just take it home and fill your cup with milk there.

8.  Split a Venti

If you and a friend are only craving a tall, Pop Sugar suggests you buy a venti and ask for two tall cups to go with it. A venti is 24-ounces, while a tall is 12-ounces. Buying a venti saves each of you a buck.

9.  Ask for Your Frappuccino in a Larger Cup

According to Uncommonly Well, Starbucks always makes more Frappuccino than will fit in the cup. If you ask for a grande in a venti cup, that extra Frappuccino will be put in the cup rather than dumped down the drain.

10.  Buy Used Gift Cards

The Penny Hoarder suggests using a site like Raise.com to buy used Starbucks cards at a discount. You’re saving money before you even walk into the store.

11.  Light Ice

Simple Most suggests the next time you order an iced drink, ask for light ice. You’ll get more drink for your buck.

The one I’ve noticed the most is the use of the app. When you sign up for the first time, you automatically get a free drink and after that you get a free drink or food every 125 stars (every $32 you spend).
