Camper remodels are becoming so popular right now! You practically can’t be on Instagram without seeing one.
I love the idea of staying in a camper versus a tent or a motel this vacation.
But first, why stay in a camper on your next vacation?
Cruising the United States can be an awesome way to spend your vacation, but it can also be pricey. A stay at a cheap motel isn’t cheap anymore. If you do it every night for a two-week vacation, it can end up costing you more than a thousand dollars.
That’s not to mention that some cheap motels come with sketchy beds, stained bathrooms, and possibly questionable neighbors. On top of that, you have to eat out because you have nowhere to cook.
That’s why a camper may be a great alternative for your next road trip.
Can a camper really be a nicer way to travel?
A camper is something you can make your own. It means the bathroom is clean because you bleached it. You know your sheets are clean because you picked them and you washed them yourself.
Plus, you get a kitchen stocked with all your favorite foods and none of the things you’re allergic to. It’s your place and you can make it just the way you like it.
On top of that, you can get world-class accomodations at Motel 6 prices.
Take for instance Normandy Farms just outside of Boston. In addition a swimming pool, dog park, tennis courts and a fitness center, it has an actual bike park.
How to renovate an RV or camper on a budget.
How to make a camper feel like home.
There are some pretty simple ways to make your camper feel a little more like home. Here’s nine ways to remodel your camper that will have you jumping behind the wheel for a weekend trip.
1. Add Backsplash
Outdoorsy suggests adding backsplash in the kitchen to make it look more upscale. This is such a simple and easy way to completely transform the look of your kitchen, and thus your entire camper.
When you look at a kitchen that has a plane background, it can be a bit dull and boring. However, adding a backsplash can completely change how the kitchen looks and thus the entire vibe of the camper.
Fortunately, with those new peel and stick sheets, it’s never been easier. Grab some peel and stick sheets and throw them up on the wall. In no time, you’ll be getting the urge to take the camper back on the road for your latest adventure.
2. Paint it White
As Mobile Home Living figured out, painting a room white may be all it takes to improve things. The all-white interior makes the camper look much larger than it really is.
When the light comes in through the windows, all of the white interior has the effect of making the camper feel large and open. It’s crazy how much of a difference changing the colors can make.
Once you do change the colors, you’ll definitely get the urge to take the camper back out on the road as soon as possible!
3. Change the Fittings
It’s amazing what a difference a few bathroom changes can make. House of Rumors switched out a plastic bathroom sink and plastic fittings and added in a porcelin sink and metal bathroom fittings. It changes the look entirely.
Once again, a small change can make a big difference.
4. Add a Slipcover to the Couch
It’s a simple and fairly cheap way to fix a tacky problem. Do It Yourself RV suggests adding a slipcover to an out of date couch to add an instant upgrade to your living area. Pillows also make a big difference when it comes to decor.
By having one or more colors, you can create a unique design and a unique vibe for your couch, which is usually one of the most common places you’ll hang out in your camper anyway.
5. Curtains Can Make All The Difference
The Pop Up Princess added some updated curtains to her pop-up camper and I love the results. Not only does it add some flair to the windows, but also to the curtains that divide the room.

6. Create an Awning Room
For this upgrade, forget the inside and focus on the outside. Use your awning to create an extra room. RVillage shows you how to create an outdoor dining and living area all underneath your awning.
An awning is just what you need if you want to spend more time outside while still having your camper nearby so you can pop back inside when you need to.

7. Adjust the Lighting
Katie and Eric of Mountain Modern Life changed up the lighting in their camper RV remodel. Lighting can make a huge difference in your RV. Also think about LED lights, not only do they save on energy usage, but they’re also cooler than traditional lights.
Just like changing the colors on the interior of your camper, changing the lighting can make a massive difference and can have the effect of making your camper feel bigger than it actually is.
8. Find Space for Storage in the Camper
Clutter can kill any camper experience, which is why storage is key. Roads Less Traveled created dining area seating that doubles as storage by using ottomans.
By adding storage and reducing clutter, you can make the camper feel more open and spacious.
9. Decorate Your Camper
Adding a little bit of decoration to your camper or RV can make all the difference in the world. Follow Your Detour says using Command strips makes it easier to keep those decorations on the wall where they belong.
Best of all, you can decorate your camper in any way you’d like. So, grab some decorations that look good to you and transform your camper.

We keep going back and forth about a trailer with the truck, but for now we’re trying to keep it cheap and simple. Part of me totally wants to just pick up and go full time though! Instagram is a dangerous place haha
